About asphalt shingle roofs

The underlayment, flashing and attic ventilation under the shingles decide how long the roof lasts as much as the shingles do.
What to ask a contractor
- Which shingle line and grade is in the quote, and what is its rated life?
- Do you offer an impact-rated shingle, and does my insurer give a discount for it?
- What underlayment goes under it, and is ice and water shield included at the eaves and valleys?
- Who gives the warranty, you or the shingle maker, and for how long?
