About roof inspection

A roof inspection looks at the shingles, flashing, vents, gutters and the attic for wear, damage and leaks, and ends in a written report with photos. Homeowners order one before they buy or sell a house, after a storm, or when a roof is getting old. Many roofers inspect for free in the hope of a job, so ask what the report will say if the roof is fine.
