What Angi does well
- Scale. Angi's pro page reports more than 1.5 million opportunities in a month, and its home page shows more than 325,000 ratings for roof installation and repair. One account covers every trade in a home.
- A guarantee on booked jobs. Jobs booked and paid through Angi come under its Happiness Guarantee, with damage cover of up to $2,500 on pre-priced services.
- Checks and extras. Angi says the owner of an Angi Approved pro must pass a criminal background check and keep a rating of 3 stars or higher. It also has iOS and Android apps and cost guides.

What Angi charges roofers
Angi is free for homeowners. Its how-it-works page says service professionals pay to advertise. Its pro terms say approved pros pay for leads as part of a subscription, per lead, or as a bundle. The terms also allow a subscription fee rise of up to ten percent, an early termination fee, and automatic renewal of an annual membership fee. The pro sign-up page shows no prices, only a sign-up form and a phone line.
What Angi does with a homeowner's details
Angi's pro terms say a lead is frequently sent to several other approved pros. The shared terms of use say a request gives consent to calls from up to four service professionals. For a homeowner who wants several quotes fast, that can be useful. For a roofer, it means the same job may go to competitors at the same time.
What we do differently
- One fee, no lead fees. A Claimed Profile costs $129 a year. It renews once a year and you can cancel at any time.
- One firm per request. The form names the recipient, or says that the request will wait for the first firm to claim the city. We never sell a request or send it to several firms.
- No paid placement. Free profiles and Claimed Profiles sit in the same lists, in the same order.
- Free profiles still show the phone. Every listed firm has a phone number and a Call button, paid or not.
You can find roofers before sharing your phone number and call the companies you choose. If you use a quote form, read its recipient or holding notice first: it may route to a city's Claimed Profile instead of the company whose page you opened.
Where Angi does more than we do
We check that each firm's phone works and its website is live. We do not vet the work, run background checks, or check licenses and insurance. We offer no guarantee. If you want booking, a guarantee and a large network across every trade, Angi offers those and we do not.
Angi's own pages differ on two points. Its how-it-works FAQ says the owner of an Approved pro must pass a background check, while its main FAQ says Angi does not run background checks on Corporate Accounts. Its how-it-works page says "get the job done right, guaranteed", while the guarantee page limits cover to jobs booked and paid through Angi.
