The short version
- Public listings and company phone numbers are available without an account.
- Browsing, calling a company and sending a quote request are separate actions.
- Read the recipient or holding notice on a quote form before submitting.
- A call is direct contact with your chosen company; it is not a promise of an anonymous conversation.
- A directory listing does not establish workmanship, licensing or insurance.
How do you start without filling in a quote form?
- Open the roofing directory and choose your state and city.
- Read each company’s listed services and service area. Confirm important details with the company.
- Make your own shortlist. The listed phone number lets you call the company you choose.
- Share the project details needed for the conversation when you are ready. Ask what information the company needs for an inspection or proposal.
The Roofing List at theroofinglist.com is a directory of roofing, siding and gutter contractors. You can research companies without submitting a quote request. The About page explains what the directory checks.
How does a direct call differ from a quote request?
| Action | What it does | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Browse a public profile | Lets you read company information without sending a request | Whether the company lists the services you need |
| Call the listed company | Starts a conversation with the company you select | Its name, service area and preferred way to exchange project details |
| Submit a quote request | Shares the information you enter under the form’s routing rules | The named recipient or holding notice, and the privacy policy |
A quote form is not always the same as contacting the business named at the top of the profile. To reach that business specifically, use its listed phone number. Direct contact still means exchanging information with the company you choose.
Who receives a quote request on The Roofing List?
Read the notice on the form before sending. A request can go to the company whose profile you are viewing or to the Claimed Profile for that city. When a recipient is available, the form names it. It may be a different company from the profile you opened.
A city request form can instead say that no company has claimed the city. Under the privacy policy, that request is held for up to 90 days and can be sent to the first company that claims the city. The Roofing List then emails you its name. A held request is not an immediate conversation with a roofer.
The policy says quote requests are not sold or shared with multiple companies. A copy is kept for 90 days from submission and then deleted, whether or not a company received it. The phone field is optional; the form also collects your name, email, property ZIP code and message. Check the current form and policy before entering details.
What should you check before hiring?
The FTC recommends asking people you trust for recommendations, checking licenses and insurance, and getting three written estimates. Use our roofer license and insurance guide to prepare your questions, then compare the written roofing estimates.
A working phone and a live website help you reach a business. They do not establish the quality of its work. The Roofing List does not check licensing or insurance and does not guarantee the contractor’s work.
How do you limit unwanted follow-up?
Before using any service’s request form, read who may receive your details and how they may contact you. Enter only information you intend to share. When speaking with a contractor, state your preferred contact method and ask how it will use your details.
The Roofing List cannot control how a contractor handles information you give it outside the site. This guide also cannot determine how a company obtained a phone number or promise that calling it will hide yours.
Which way of finding a roofer fits you?
Browse a directory if you want to research companies and make your own calls. If booking or a project guarantee matters to you, read the specific provider’s terms. Our Angi comparison and HomeAdvisor comparison explain the different contact and payment models.
Start with roofers in your state or browse roof replacement contractors by city. Confirm the company’s service area and project fit before arranging a visit.
